New Look // Turtleneck under blue dress + magenta heels

Hi all! Today I have a fun look combining two of my current favorite colors: navy blue and magenta. I think this color combination is so fun, especially to brighten up a look during deep winter. Over here it’s not too cold anymore—seems like spring came early to New York! But since I’m still wearing stockings and light coats, this seems like a perfect outfit to start transitioning to the warmer weather!

New Look // Mixing patterns with a romantic dress

One of the reasons why I love winter fashion so much is the opportunity for layering, mixing patterns and textures, and creating energetic color combinations. You’ve got so much to work with in winter: stockings, dresses, layering shirts under or cardigans over a dress, scarves, etc. I love putting all the puzzle pieces together to create something fresh and new. In summer, my choices are more limited!

Holiday Fashion // Fur vest + red dress + polka dot tights

Holiday season is heeere, and I always get excited about what to wear. Holiday fashion, for me, means a lot of reds and sparkles, as well as furs and fun stockings! This outfit has all of that. I think this holiday fashion look would be great for a Christmas party or a holiday brunch, something casual yet fun and cute! Personally, I wore this to work. 😉

Fashion // How to style colored tights in winter

For years, one of my favorite styles has been colored tights. I used to wear really bright ones very oddly, before I knew how to style colored tights right to make them look effortless and chic. I remember wearing bright blue and purple tights with fleur de lis designs on them when I was in college and thinking I was the height of fashionable! I still have those tights, but I’ve learned better ways to rock them.

Fashion // Wearing winter white in fall and winter

Hey all! Winter is fast approaching, and with it comes Christmas! I know that people get testy and stressed about Christmas, but personally, I absolutely love this time of year. I love the holiday spirit and the music, the emphasis on family and togetherness, and I love how happy I get! In other news, Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and I’m also focusing on that. Because I tend to dress seasonally (if you haven’t noticed by now!), most of what I wear will reflect the time of year, and for fall that’s definitely jewel tones like deep reds, oranges, greens, and yellows. This outfit, however, is one that I put together thinking about winter ahead.

Fashion // All the words that you said

I’m really into monochrome outfits right now, that incorporate different shades of the same color. This one is a little dark green/forest green/brownish outfit that of course I had to ruin with a long lace vest. I’ve got two of these skirts from Boohoo—I’ve worn the other before—and I think this one will become a staple throughout winter.

Fashion // Old Money

Happy Tuesday! I started a new job this week so I’m still adjusting to the schedule change. Here’s an outfit I put together with some old and new pieces. My favorite part of this outfit is my necklace: it’s actually a pound coin I brought back from London and stuck in a coin bezel. I spent New Year’s in London, and since I’m not really one for souvenir shopping, I decided to make this little memento of my trip!

Pretty scarf from The Scarf Shop, and the whole outfit is sort of styled around its colors. Hope you like! 6_the_most_happy_blog

Fashion // One sweet dream

It’s officially winter, even though it’s still reaching into the 60s around here. And winter means fur and hats and all the softest accessories in the world. White/off-white is probably my favorite color to wear. I gravitate toward anything white/feminine/soft, and I love how girly and cool this outfit is.

It was inspired by this slouchy beret I received, and I decided to style an outfit around it from pieces I received as Christmas presents. I love the hat—it’s from Scala Pronto and it’s perfect for basically everything I wear, plus it has metallic thread woven through it, so it’s just a little glitzy. It’s also lined on the inside, and so very warm. Hope you like! 7

Cold weather accessories wish list!

I don’t think I’m the only one who gets excited for cold-weather accessories. I love combining coats with the perfect gloves, hats, socks, stockings, and scarves. My accessories tend to be a mix of bright color combinations and minimal warmth, because unfortunately I’m one of those people who sacrifice warmth for style. I just love cold weather months, and I love to dress up for them, as if the season were an event. 🙂

I have winter coats in burgundy, black, red, white, off-white, and basically anything in red tones or neutral, so my color schemes tend to gravitate toward warm colors/reds/mauves/pinks/blacks.

Here’s what’s on my wish list for the fall/winter:

I’m especially obsessed with the faux fur vest from TopShop! Shop these picks on my Polyvore.

SNOW! It won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow…

When it snows I turn into a five-year-old. Sorry not sorry 🙂 Here’s a rather Christmassy outfit I put together from some new things and some old. Stood outside to take these photos and felt like a kid again, letting the snow just cover me. I suggest you try this sometime, it’s great for the soul.

The title of this post is from a new song by Lana Del Rey, my obsession. It’s from the new film Big Eyes which I am dying to see.
