Fashion: Moon River

I’m sad April is almost over. It’s my second favorite month of the year. I love the rain and the birds singing in the mornings, sigh. But I love May even more. Here are some pictures from the middle of the month. My computer’s hard drive failed a couple weeks ago, hence the lack of outfit photos. It took me a while to get my laptop back in running order and retrieve a lot of lost data. No fun!

The color of the skirt is almost Tiffany blue, so this one’s for Holly Golightly. You’re a gem.

Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker

Fashion: Warmed by the Sun

These are the shoes I’ve been remastering the past couple weeks. I decided to take them out for a stroll pre-makeover. It was a gorgeous, sunlit day but a little cool. Sporting some neon legs here. I have a vast collection of colored tights from years past and I’m trying to figure out if I still like them. I think I may be outgrowing that particular style, but I do like this look.

I got this amazing ring from Etsy: it’s made from the yellowing pages of an old book. I am so careful when I wear it; it’s treated with shellac or something but it’s still delicate!

Fashion: To The Dark Places

Happy April! April and May are my favorite months of the year. I love when it starts to rain every day and you can smell the sweetness of the rain in the air. It’s so refreshing and warm. It’s also when I start to pull out the Frizz-Ease to tame my mane of hair! You win some, you lose some.

This outfit combines two of my favorite spring trends: floral and thigh-high socks. I had a lot of fun styling these pieces and it was the perfect spring day, when the air just starts to warm up and rise in humidity. It even started to drizzle. I loved it.

Fashion: Fall Seven Times

DIY boots! I recently wore this on a windy day to a brunch in Soho with some friends. It was unseasonably warm out a couple weeks ago and I got so excited I decided to put on some flowery shoes! These shoes are actually really comfortable but I had to glue them up a bit more to stop all the fraying. Hopefully the stubborn, crazy strong E-6000 glue holds because I can’t give these shoes up. They’re too pretty.

I can’t wait for spring to really come!

and then there are Shopping Days…

Saving money makes me want to spend it. I suppose it makes sense. My little reward for skimping on clothes and driving around to find a meter with time already on it is that once in a while I can give myself free rein to shop, within reason. I bought a dress, a blazer, and a couple of belts. Then I stopped by my local Barnes & Noble and had coffee with my sister. I couldn’t resist picking up a copy of Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

I love the heart keyhole back on this white knit dress, and the blazer is fitted with ruching on the sleeves. I also indulged my inner girly girl with a couple of bow belts.

“What I found does the most good is just to get into a taxi and go to Tiffany’s. It calms me down right away, the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there.”

Fashion: Miles To Go

Stretchy pants, how I love thee. I also love the details of this shirt: the tie at the waist, the butterfly pattern, the lace-edged collar, the color combination. It reminds me more of autumn than of spring, but I’ll take it.
