Fashion // I wasn't crazy, I was divine

SNOW! It won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow…

When it snows I turn into a five-year-old. Sorry not sorry 馃檪 Here’s a rather Christmassy outfit I put together from聽some new things and some old. Stood outside to take these photos and felt like a kid again, letting the snow just cover me. I suggest you try this sometime, it’s great for the soul.

The title of this post is from a new song by Lana Del Rey, my obsession. It’s from the new film聽Big Eyes聽which I am dying to see.

First Snow

We just had our first snowfall this season. While the blizzard hit places up north harder, here in New York we had only one inch or so. It was beautiful to see the world in white again.

Fashion: Heart of the Night

Everything is blooming most recklessly. If it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. –Rainer Maria Rilke

I wore this outfit to a Walk Off the Earth concert at the end of January. They put on an amazing show; they’re such musical innovators in the way they manipulate conventions and use unusual instruments like an聽electric toothbrush聽to create distinctive sounds! They also have a great stage presence and are so energetic and enthusiastic. It was the second time I’ve seen them but it certainly won’t be the last!

This floral kimono is quickly becoming one of my favorite items in my closet. Floral, red, and pink, this item screams me. Get it at Forever 21! They also have it in a mustard yellow/cream floral pattern I just may buy soon! I can’t get enough floral patterns to satisfy my obsession.

Fashion: A Beam In Darkness

We have but faith: we cannot know;
For knowledge is of things we see;
And yet we trust it comes from thee,
A beam in darkness: let it grow.

We’ve had a massive snowstorm here in New York, one of many this season, but I love it. I also love these understated kitty flats. I do like the Charlotte Olympia kind but the drawn-on face effect kind of freaks me out. These are from Forever 21, and the face is much more subtle. Plus they’ve got teeny little whiskers!

Outfit of the [Snow] Day

It’s snowing up a storm here in New York, and it’s beautiful. I hope it keeps up until Christmas–there’s nothing I love more than a white Christmas.

Snow Day 1 Snow Day 2

On Tuesday I enjoyed a snow day from work and spent the evening decorating the Christmas tree with my family, which is one of my favorite traditions and one of the best days in my Christmas season. Here’s what I wore out in the falling snow:

I really love this weird reindeer top I got from Camden Market in London. Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s just a regular deer (sticking out his tongue no less), but I thought it matched well with the skirt and my Christmassy mood!

In other news, this week I’m reading聽Madame Bovary for the first time, and it’s awesome so far–Emma kind of reminds me of a non-ironic portrayal of Catherine Morland in Northanger Abbey.聽Can’t wait to read it all and share my thoughts!

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to all those celebrating! Hope you’re celebrating the Christmas season with lots of books and creamy hot chocolate by the fire, or maybe a spiked spiced apple cider!
