Fashion // Trust in a dream

Hello, all. A fashion post today with this soft, dreamy longline cardigan. I’ve styled both of these pieces before, the cardigan and the blush pink romper underneath, but I’m a big fan of recombining my favorite pieces into entirely new looks. Helps that I also don’t need to shop as much!

Blush pink and creamy whites are two of my favorite colors, and are always in my color scheme for spring. Hope you like!

Fashion // I can hear sirens

Today’s outfit is another work-appropriate one featuring some brand-new styles from Statement Boutique. First, these daisy-printed cotton pants I’m obsessed with, and then this chiffon vest I love! I paired it with a pair of blush sandals from Jeffrey Campbell.

Both these pieces are courtesy of the online boutique Statement Boutique. The owner, Nina, decided to open a digital store to provide unique pieces of clothing that were appropriate in both professional settings and casual ones, which I think this outfit perfectly mixes.

Fashion // Backfire

I feel like I’ve been talking about work a lot this year, from dealing with my commute to figuring out how to look cute and professional at the same time. But I haven’t ever shared an example of what kind of outfits I usually put together, so here’s one!

I love this dress because it’s lightweight and the length is perfect, but it’s still very much my style, and it’s also endlessly customizable. I’ll wear this a couple times a month and change out my belt, shoes, or cardigan, and it looks different every time. It’s also soft and breathable, so it’s great for the whole year, from dark winter months to warm spring.

I think it’s really important to have versatile, work-horse pieces in your closet that you can fall back on when picking out yet another outfit for work becomes a major hassle! This dress is that for me. Paired with a burgundy shrug, a ribbon belt, and these old Anthropologie shoes I’ve had for years (they’re called “Bronte” boots!). Hope you like!

Fashion // Dahlia

Hmmm, what to wear when it’s 36 degrees in April? On this day, I had a cute outfit planned but alas, it had snowed and hailed overnight and even though the day was beautiful, it was windy and freezing temps.

Instead, I styled this half spring/half winter outfit that kept me warm and kept me from feeling like I was still plunged into winter. And since I’m not buying anything right now, these are all re-styled pieces from the last year!

My life has been pretty stressful lately, with long work hours and various responsibilites that have been stretching me thin. As always, styling outfits and indulging this passion is an outlet. I get to share that passion here, and I’m grateful for that! Hope you like this. Let me know in the comments what you wear during unseasonably cold days in spring!

Fashion // The past and pending

Lately, in an effort to not shop so much, I’ve been trying to repurpose old things. In that spirit, last week I found this dress that I bought last year but never wore! I tend to buy things on a whim and then wonder if I can pull it off. Luckily, I really liked the way this shirt dress looked, paired with a thick black belt with gold accents. I added more gold highlights here and there to reinforce the look, and with the Posie K lip color, I think I tied it together well!

Also: STRAIGHT HAIR. I just had it cut, and so I had that new-haircut swagger. Instant confidence, am I right?

Fashion // Hang on to yourself

Crazy that spring is almost here. Kinda feel like summer just ended. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Over last weekend, it was warm enough to wear this shorts/crop top combo, and I love the colors in this outfit! I wore this to brunch for my cousin’s birthday. Coincidentally, she bought me this gorgeous burgundy top!

Fashion // Love Can't Wear Out

Happy July! Here’s a bit of a romantic outfit…The quote is from Gone With the Wind, which I’ve finished tonight to a chorus of sobbing. Stay tuned for more on that tomorrow.

Fashion // Paris is a Moveable Feast

I bought this bag last month from a little boutique in Bronxville called Weezie D. It’s got what I think is Paris painted on it, and in blush pink, it goes with nearly everything in my wardrobe. I wore this outfit to the BookCon. I think it’s bookish without being silly. Plus, you gotta love those polka dots, man.

Spring is here in full force! I found this skirt at Forever 21 and I’m not crazy about how it falls, but I like the texture of it. I wore this on a windy spring day and definitely liked how the kimono made this outfit a little more appropriate for day. I wore my favorite spring boots from Chicwish and a red bag for some color! Happy June, everyone!

Fashion // Embrace the Mess

Maxi skirts make me feel like a princess. This gorgeous, cranberry chiffon one is a couple years old. I wore it when I visited Paris a couple years ago and now it always reminds me of that magical trip. I wore this outfit on May Day, just strolling around town with my sister, shopping and enjoying the sun. It’s been an amazing spring so far!

My sister and I have been celebrating May Day every year for the past few years because of some obsession with paganism. Sometimes we go for a picnic or visit a museum, or do something simple like visit the New York Botanical Gardens (across the street from my alma mater, Fordham University). It’s really an opportunity to celebrate spring and pretend we’re cooler than we are. (Is paganism cool?) Anyway—

What are you going to do? Everything, is my guess. It will be a little messy, but embrace the mess. It will be complicated, but rejoice in the complications. – Nora Ephron
