Fashion // Queen of Disaster

It’s finally maxi dress season, which means my outfits are going to get much easier to put together. I absolutely adore maxi dresses, and summer is the perfect time to wear one, because they’re the least fiddly of all the dresses鈥攏o need to worry about skirt length or whether your shoes match. Cause no one can see them anyway! (Usually.) I recently received this pretty blue paisley-print maxi and I like this dress because it’s really flowy, and because it’s versatile; you can even wear it as a top layer over shorts and a tank. I wore this to Mountain Jam, and also to work (my office fashion has recently become a lot more relaxed, because it’s summer and I’m getting lazier 馃檪 ). The maxi dress聽becoming a go-to.

Tips for buying a maxi dress:

Keep your height in mind. I’m a middling height (5’5) so I don’t usually have issues with length, but girls who are either taller or shorter than average will want to check on the maxi dress聽length, especially if, like me, you tend to do a lot of your shopping online. Also, I usually go for a maxi dress with a slit down the side or some kind of opening on the bottom to provide some movement so it doesn’t look so much like you’re wearing a bedsheet over your body (I have dresses like those and they’re much more “meh”). I also like maxis with a lighter material, to provide aforementioned flow. Hope you like this look!3-shein_fashion_review_the_most_happy-5Read More 禄

Fashion feat. Romwe // Flipside

New favorite romper! Floral prints and red are two of my favorite things, so this outfit is basically perfect for me. I have a little bit of trouble with rompers being too damn short, so I was initially very hesitant about ordering a romper from Romwe, but to my very pleasant surprise, this piece fits me perfectly, aside from a small pin in the neckline to make sure I don’t have any wardrobe malfunctions. 馃檪

Romwe has been in the news lately for providing less than stellar pieces of clothing, which was a consideration for me when I accepted a sponsorship, but I think that with a few smart shopping tips, which I plan to talk more about in a future post, there are perks to doing some frugal, “fast fashion” shopping at these inexpensive sites.

I paired this romper with one of my favorite pairs of shoes for the season, from Nasty Gal’s collection. I bought them in 2014, and surprisingly, they’re still in style. (Truly, even if they weren’t, I would still wear them often.)聽I hope you like this look, because I certainly think this romper will become a staple in my summer wardrobe this year!

Fashion // Trust in a dream

Hello, all. A fashion post today with this soft, dreamy longline cardigan. I’ve styled both of these pieces before, the cardigan and the blush pink romper underneath, but I’m a big fan of recombining my favorite pieces into entirely new looks. Helps that I also don’t need to shop as much!

Blush pink and creamy whites are two of my favorite colors, and are always in my color scheme for spring. Hope you like!

Fashion // I can hear sirens

Today’s outfit is another work-appropriate one featuring some brand-new styles from Statement Boutique. First, these daisy-printed cotton pants I’m obsessed with, and then this chiffon vest I love! I paired it with a pair of blush sandals from Jeffrey Campbell.

Both these pieces are courtesy of the online boutique Statement Boutique. The owner, Nina, decided to open a digital store to provide unique pieces of clothing that were appropriate in both professional settings and casual ones, which I think this outfit perfectly mixes.

Fashion // Backfire

I feel like I’ve been talking about work a lot this year, from dealing with my commute to figuring out how to look cute and professional at the same time. But I haven’t ever shared an example of what kind of outfits I usually put together, so here’s one!

I love this dress because it’s lightweight and the length is perfect, but it’s still very much my style, and it’s also endlessly customizable. I’ll wear this a couple times a month and change out my belt, shoes, or cardigan, and it looks different every time. It’s also soft and breathable, so it’s great for the whole year, from dark winter months to warm spring.

I think it’s really important to have versatile, work-horse pieces in your closet that you can fall back on when picking out yet another outfit for work becomes a major hassle! This dress is that for me. Paired with a burgundy shrug, a ribbon belt, and these old Anthropologie shoes I’ve had for years (they’re called “Bronte” boots!). Hope you like!

Fashion // Dahlia

Hmmm, what to wear when it’s 36 degrees in April? On this day, I had a cute outfit planned but alas, it had snowed and hailed overnight and even though the day was beautiful, it was windy and freezing temps.

Instead, I styled this half spring/half winter outfit that kept me warm and kept me from feeling like I was still plunged into winter. And since I’m not buying anything right now, these are all re-styled pieces from the last year!

My life has been pretty stressful lately, with long work hours and various responsibilites that have been stretching me thin. As always, styling outfits and indulging this passion is an outlet. I get to share that passion here, and I’m grateful for that! Hope you like this. Let me know in the comments what you wear during unseasonably cold days in spring!

Fashion // Play my music, watch you leave

This is my excited-for-spring, Easter outfit. The trees are BLOOMING in full force, and when spring comes around I can’t help but get giddy for all the clothes I shall wear. I like how this outfit is a mix of dark, winter pieces and lighter, airy spring pieces. I also love the color combination of burgundy and this deep, rosy coral. Finding this color combo made me v. happy. Hope you like it!

Fashion // The past and pending

Lately, in an effort to not shop so much, I’ve been trying to repurpose old things. In that spirit, last week I found this dress that I bought last year but never wore! I tend to buy things on a whim and then wonder if I can pull it off. Luckily, I really liked the way this shirt dress looked, paired with a thick black belt with gold accents. I added more gold highlights here and there to reinforce the look, and with the Posie K lip color, I think I tied it together well!

Also: STRAIGHT HAIR. I just had it cut, and so I had that new-haircut swagger. Instant confidence, am I right?

Blacks and grays for today’s outfit, and a bit of a departure from my usual color-infused looks. I love these H&M tights for their open-weave knit pattern that reminds me of art deco. And this lined faux-fur vest is the perfect transition piece for when it’s too cold sans jacket! I bought the shoes in 2012, when I visited Italy the last time. My aunt helped me pick them out. 馃檪 I love oxford/brogue-type shoes, and these are just too cute with the tassel!

I hope you like!

Fashion // Born to be free

Spring is approaching! Thought I’d get into the spirit of things and enjoy the warming weather with this bright, floral dress. Since it’s also (sometimes) warm enough to go without full stockings, I wore this with some knee highs, and my favorite Oxford booties. I love the transitions between seasons.
