Blacks and grays for today’s outfit, and a bit of a departure from my usual color-infused looks. I love these H&M tights for their open-weave knit pattern that reminds me of art deco. And this lined faux-fur vest is the perfect transition piece for when it’s too cold sans jacket! I bought the shoes in 2012, when I visited Italy the last time. My aunt helped me pick them out. 🙂 I love oxford/brogue-type shoes, and these are just too cute with the tassel!

I hope you like!

Fashion // Festivities

I wore this old H&M dress on Thanksgiving, paired with my favorite new black Oxfords, my mom’s old belt from the 80s, and this beautiful coat from New Dress. The belt was perhaps a mistake during turkey and dessert, but otherwise, it was a comfy, dressy outfit for one of my favorite days of the year. Hope you like!

I love this sage green maxi from Forever 21, it’s got a romantic, slightly Grecian feel to it. I also love how I can wear all these muted colors and still look bold and loud, cause my hair’s this colorful accessory! I paired this dress with some old peacock-feather earrings I bought from Etsy a little while ago! Yaaay for color!

Fashion | Perseverance

It’s been a long winter and even though I’m sad to see it go, spring is right around the corner. Strangely, spring is when I transition away from pastels and into jewel tones. I just feel like everything is a riot of color and I tend to mirror that in my dress.

Fashion | Asymmetry

Ever put together an outfit you really like but then get nervous about actually wearing it? I really loved this skirt but it’s kind of hard to wear with my proportions. The asymmetrical hem is long on one side and the front is super short, so to balance the hem I knotted the skirt on one side and added a kimono to make this outfit a little more flowy. Then of course I added knee socks, because of course. I do like the finished effect.

This skirt. Well, this skirt is from Easy Pickins, a very affordable place to shop here in the Yonkers/Bronx area. The pickins are usually easy, providing you wade through the stocked clearance racks and really search for gems. This skirt is one of those gems. I initially bought it to wear with my Jordan Baker/flapper costume for Halloween, and have had to think of new ways to incorporate it into a normal wardrobe.

Fashion | New Romance

I love H&M. I got this warm, soft, beautiful blush sweater there and some dangly necklaces I can layer and tangle. ‘Fast fashion’ has a lot of critics but it’s lovely for me to be able to change my style often without emptying my bank account. And as always, the quality is what you pay for. I don’t make a secret of not being inclined to buy high fashion or even middle-brow brands (or whatever you call it!) and I love the affordability of places like H&M and Forever 21. This outfit is full of both.

I wore this to Eataly with my family for my sister’s birthday, and stuffed myself on gnocchi with a duck pate sauce and cremini mushrooms. God, I love Eataly. Luckily, the skirt stretched 😉

Fashion // Paris is a Moveable Feast

I bought this bag last month from a little boutique in Bronxville called Weezie D. It’s got what I think is Paris painted on it, and in blush pink, it goes with nearly everything in my wardrobe. I wore this outfit to the BookCon. I think it’s bookish without being silly. Plus, you gotta love those polka dots, man.

Fashion: Warmed by the Sun

These are the shoes I’ve been remastering the past couple weeks. I decided to take them out for a stroll pre-makeover. It was a gorgeous, sunlit day but a little cool. Sporting some neon legs here. I have a vast collection of colored tights from years past and I’m trying to figure out if I still like them. I think I may be outgrowing that particular style, but I do like this look.

I got this amazing ring from Etsy: it’s made from the yellowing pages of an old book. I am so careful when I wear it; it’s treated with shellac or something but it’s still delicate!

fashion: frozen

Yes, I was frozen when I took these photos outside! But it’s okay, because I love the cold. I wore this snow-inspired outfit to a Christmas party this week!

This old skirt from H&M was far too long; I bought it a couple years ago but only wore it once or twice, but I decided to hem it so I could wear it this season. My sister cut the skirt because I can’t be trusted with scissors.

This skirt makes me wish I could be a ballerina, if only I had the smallest amount of dance talent!
