Fashion // How to wear 90s style trends

Hey everyone! I’m back today with a simple, comfy outfit that is a little bit 90s. This was a go-to outfit for me a lot in the fall and early winter, and I love how a little gray sweater dress could so easily be accessorized based on my mood and the occasion. LGD? 馃槈

Here, I’ve really capitalized on the 90s trend with this pretty wrap choker echoing the 90s style of the dress. Then, because I’m obsessed with fun tights, I wore these baroque-style back seam tights, with my new favorite shoes from Modcloth鈥攖hey’re perfect for work.

Hope you like!

Fashion // How to rock the embroidery trend this season

One of my absolute favorite trends for 2016 is embroidery. I love it on clothing, jackets, jeans, and even shoes! My obsession with floral prints means that of course I would automatically gravitate toward floral print embroidery. I鈥檝e been on the lookout for ways to rock the embroidery trend this fall/winter season, and I found a perfect way in this gorgeous embroidered bomber jacket from Missguided.

Fashion // Renaissance Faire style

I’ve got a fun look for you guys today! For years now, I’ve been going to the Renaissance Faire at the end of summer with my family and friends, and it’s always a great day of silliness, food on a stick, gorgeous handmade jewelry, shows, and of course, it’s an excuse to dress up! One year I went as a pirate, but this year I’m going back to my usual, with a dreamy dress and some kind of fun headwear. It’s not a super costumey look, but I like that it seems more laid back!

New look ft. the perfect dress

Have you ever been out shopping and came across the utterly perfect dress? I was shopping at Forever 21 a few weeks ago looking for some cheap trends, and I came across this gorgeous white maxi dress that might actually be “Lisa” in dress form: the lace, the off-white color, the laces on the bodice. I bought it immediately.

This聽outfit of the day post is a little different from my previous ones because they were shot by a professional photographer: my friend and former co-worker Alex Marcano, who is聽crazy talented. He聽had the idea to do a collaboration, and I jumped at the offer. Usually, a member of my family or a friend takes聽my photos, so it was a new experience for me to be photographed professionally.聽Of course, I picked my new perfect, favorite dress to wear for the occasion!

Fashion // Queen of Disaster

It’s finally maxi dress season, which means my outfits are going to get much easier to put together. I absolutely adore maxi dresses, and summer is the perfect time to wear one, because they’re the least fiddly of all the dresses鈥攏o need to worry about skirt length or whether your shoes match. Cause no one can see them anyway! (Usually.) I recently received this pretty blue paisley-print maxi and I like this dress because it’s really flowy, and because it’s versatile; you can even wear it as a top layer over shorts and a tank. I wore this to Mountain Jam, and also to work (my office fashion has recently become a lot more relaxed, because it’s summer and I’m getting lazier 馃檪 ). The maxi dress聽becoming a go-to.

Tips for buying a maxi dress:

Keep your height in mind. I’m a middling height (5’5) so I don’t usually have issues with length, but girls who are either taller or shorter than average will want to check on the maxi dress聽length, especially if, like me, you tend to do a lot of your shopping online. Also, I usually go for a maxi dress with a slit down the side or some kind of opening on the bottom to provide some movement so it doesn’t look so much like you’re wearing a bedsheet over your body (I have dresses like those and they’re much more “meh”). I also like maxis with a lighter material, to provide aforementioned flow. Hope you like this look!3-shein_fashion_review_the_most_happy-5Read More 禄

Fashion // Pride & Prejudice scarf by Storiarts

It’s been a long while since I published. I gave myself a break at the end of May because I went away for Memorial Day Weekend, and because I managed to burn myself out doing too many things at once: i.e. having four-ish jobs! Anyway–you also may notice a different theme! I’ve also moved from a free hosted WordPress to a self-hosted one, and gotten a facelift in the mix! I’m loving the new theme, and am still tweaking it to perfection. Hope you like it too!

Today’s look features this beautiful summer scarf from Storiarts, and it’s got a passage from my favorite book written on it:聽Pride and Prejudice. Absolutely in love with this soft, romantic scarf, and so I styled an outfit around it using neutral tones for a cool spring day. It was in the 60s that day, and I was headed to work. This was a pretty comfortable and pretty outfit to wear.

Fashion // Trust in a dream

Hello, all. A fashion post today with this soft, dreamy longline cardigan. I’ve styled both of these pieces before, the cardigan and the blush pink romper underneath, but I’m a big fan of recombining my favorite pieces into entirely new looks. Helps that I also don’t need to shop as much!

Blush pink and creamy whites are two of my favorite colors, and are always in my color scheme for spring. Hope you like!

Fashion // I sing the body electric

Happy May! I don’t know about where you all live, but here, it’s been raining since Sunday, and won’t stop until Monday. Not a great way to start May, but hey鈥攇otta make the most of it.

Here’s an outfit I’ve been repeating A LOT lately. I tend to do that: find a combo I love, and then exhaust it. The top is actually a dress from Shein, one of those sites that got into trouble recently for scams鈥攁nd while this “dress” is well made and what I ordered, it is also聽waaaay too short to be a dress. Here it is as a tunic-type top, paired with burgundy leggings. Hope you like!

Fashion // Backfire

I feel like I’ve been talking about work a lot this year, from dealing with my commute to figuring out how to look cute and professional at the same time. But I haven’t ever shared an example of what kind of outfits I usually put together, so here’s one!

I love this dress because it’s lightweight and the length is perfect, but it’s still very much my style, and it’s also endlessly customizable. I’ll wear this a couple times a month and change out my belt, shoes, or cardigan, and it looks different every time. It’s also soft and breathable, so it’s great for the whole year, from dark winter months to warm spring.

I think it’s really important to have versatile, work-horse pieces in your closet that you can fall back on when picking out yet another outfit for work becomes a major hassle! This dress is that for me. Paired with a burgundy shrug, a ribbon belt, and these old Anthropologie shoes I’ve had for years (they’re called “Bronte” boots!). Hope you like!
