Fashion // Wearing winter white in fall and winter

Hey all! Winter is fast approaching, and with it comes Christmas! I know that people get testy and stressed about Christmas, but personally, I absolutely love this time of year. I love the holiday spirit and the music, the emphasis on family and togetherness, and I love how happy I get! In other news, Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and I’m also focusing on that. Because I tend to dress seasonally (if you haven’t noticed by now!), most of what I wear will reflect the time of year, and for fall that’s definitely jewel tones like deep reds, oranges, greens, and yellows. This outfit, however, is one that I put together thinking about winter ahead.

Fashion ft. Roadkill Ranch // Styling a kimono for fall

I’m a huge fan of the so-called kimono for fall. I adore drapey looks and loose silhouettes, and I just love the bohemian look a kimono gives to an outfit. But they’re generally easier to style in the warmer months because they’re not sturdy or substantial when you need warmth. But with the right kimono and the right styling, you can absolutely wear a kimono for fall!

Fashion || The start of something

Today I’m wearing this fabulous new cape coat over one of my favorite, very old dresses. I bought this dress at least four years ago, and because of the colors and how comfy it is, I must wear it a dozen times a year, and I love that. It’s definitely a staple dress, and one that I never get tired of.

I’ve been eager to find myself a good cape coat for ages, and I love this lightweight one. Cape coats of all kinds are definitely a mild-weather outerwear option, because obviously, your arms get no protection from the cold. But it’s such a fun piece to style for the warmer fall days because you get to play around with colors and patterns.

Also wearing the Kendall Jenner lipstick I cannot get enough of. It matched perfectly!

(As an aside: this is my 400th blog post. Crazy!)

Fashion // The light keep falling

Tried to blend into the leaves with this outfit. 🙂

The textures of this skirt, top, stockings combo all remind me of 90s style, and the color of the corduroy skirt is a little 70s. This is a very textural outfit, with the corduroy, ribbed stockings, and the material of this lightweight sweater. But I also love this color combination and how the colors just pop next to each other. Fall is the perfect time of year for these beautiful hues.

My friends think this necklace looks like the sign of the Deathly Hallows, and now I like it even better! △⃒⃘

Dyed my hair darker, to get rid of the green tips at the bottom (you can still kiiiiinda see it) and also for winter. I’m actually loving the subtle darker shade.

I love the colors, textures, and patterns of this outfit. I also love the contrast of pairing high-waisted pants/crop top combo with a long, boho cardigan like this one, absolutely perfect for fall. It’s from boohoo.com, which is quickly becoming my one-stop shopping site. Price-wise it’s close to Forever 21, but I think the quality is much better.

I added some old touches: my trusty overknee suede boots that are basically an almost daily staple during the colder months, and a braided belt my mom bought in the 80s! It looks vintage, but also like something Balmain would come out with! I also wore this belt on Halloween night for my Kendall Jenner costume, because it reminded me of this braided, embellished Balmain top, and she’s like, Mrs. Balmain. 🙂

Fashion // Wasted daylight

Something I’m really excited for is getting my natural curl back. Since I dyed my hair in April with a whole rainbow of colors, the best way to show it off was to blow it out, or as I usually did, flat-iron my hair and then put in curls on the bottom. I hated styling my hair because my preferred method of hairstyling is to wash it and then go to sleep.

So now that I’ve cut it, even though there’s still stubborn remnants of green on the ends, it’s so much easier to go natural! I missed my waves. 🙂

I put together this outfit using some jewel-ish tones, and I like the effect. I love wearing rich colors like these, and fall is the perfect time.

One of the things I love best about fashion/personal style is using color to express a mood. I love creating color palettes with my clothes, and using those colors to evoke a season or a feeling. I’m a very color-oriented person, and I go through stages where I’m drawn to a certain color, and I use that whenever I do anything creative, fashion included.

Obviously, these are all very classic fall colors, but there’s something about the nude shades with the reds, oranges, and pinks that makes me feel peaceful. It’s also an excuse to rock some awesome red lipstick, something I don’t do often enough!

I wore this outfit to dinner with my family last week. I hope you like it. 2 23 15 3 19 22 6

In love with the cape coat

I’ve wanted to get a new cape-style coat for a long time, but my search was put off this year by persistent summer weather. I’m not complaining, considering it’s almost mid-October and temps are in the 70s, but it’s just lulling me in a false sense of cape-coat-less security.

I kind of want fall to come just so I know it’s actually there, and that I won’t wake up one morning next week to a foot of snow (that happened last year!). I want to be prepared! So I’m lusting after these cool cape coats:

I think these are all perfect for fall, and I’m partial to numbers 1 & 6. May have to make a late fall purchase! Links here.

Fashion // Into the rose garden

Hey, today’s my birthday! 24 years old.

I put this outfit together and promptly squealed in delight. This outfit combines some of my favorite things ever: blush pink, floral print, and tutus. I felt like Carrie Bradshaw, and also like one of those ballerinas in a Degas painting. It’s a weird combination, I know. But I felt very happy and twirly.

If I were going Paris Fashion Week this year (dream/life goal), this outfit would be in my suitcase.
