Fashion // Noir

Put this outfit together, looked in the mirror, and thought of Taylor Swift circa 2012. So I put on some red lipstick and went with it! (Also because my hair is straight here!) Wearing some old pieces I found, since I’m not shopping right now, and one of my newly-acquired Kylie Lip Kits (I’m a huge fan.)

I love high-waisted anything, and this outfit also reminded me of another much-loved icon, Zooey Deschanel. So really, this is very me! Hope you like.

Fashion // Hang on to yourself

Crazy that spring is almost here. Kinda feel like summer just ended. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Over last weekend, it was warm enough to wear this shorts/crop top combo, and I love the colors in this outfit! I wore this to brunch for my cousin’s birthday. Coincidentally, she bought me this gorgeous burgundy top!

Fashion | Say you’ll remember me

So, I hear that the 70s are coming back, and this I am happy about. I got this coordinating ensemble from Wear All and I was really excited to get it in the mail. This outfit is totally out of my comfort zone and I like that. It also reminded me of Kylie Jenner’s amazing nude ensemble that day she went blue. 😉 So I had to give it a try.

This outfit is like wearing pajamas, and it fits perfectly. I love the trendiness of it, I love the flared pant, and I love how comfy it is. Two thumbs way up.

Fashion | Summer Wine

This is probably one of the last actual summer outfits I’ll do this year. August is almost over. 🙁

Instead of shopping at the end of the season I tried to do some restyling with old pieces. These shorts are from Forever 21 but they never fit me before this year, and the top was cut from a dress that didn’t fit! This outfit happened because I pulled random things out of my closet and found that they worked — surprisingly.

Fashion | The merry flowers of June

Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.

It’s July, but hey, this beautiful song is in Lord of the Rings and I’m wearing a top with the LotR map printed on it! Gotta love that dork life. I bought this very inexpensive top from a Store Envy shop called Hearts & Minds, and I absolutely love it. I knew I had to style an elfish outfit around it and so I paired it with this chiffon skirt I bought at Piperlime over three years ago. I love how much this dreamy outfit flows.

Current obsessions: literary fashion and quirky purses

Also, Instagram. Instagram is by far my most-opened app on my phone, and it’s quickly becoming the new “blogging” platform, and for established bloggers more influential than I, updating several times a day even is becoming a necessity. So, through Instagram, I’ve been able to connect with so many fellow bloggers with interests similar to mine, and have been influenced by their reading choices, fashion choices, inspirational words and the oft-discussed “Monday Motivation” (hey, we all need it!). I can also follow my favorite brands like Jeffrey Campbell and salivate over shoes I can never afford. But it also gives me ideas for my own wardrobe, especially. Here’s what I’m obsessed with at the moment!

Items:

  1. Lord of the Rings map crop top: I bought that LotR crop top from Store Envy‘s shop called Hearts & Minds. I saw it on a fellow blogger on Instagram and had to have it!
  2. Alice in Wonderland printed skirt: This skirt is from an Etsy shop called Go Follow Rabbits and it features the original Alice illustrations. LOVE.
  3. Peter Pan temporary tattoo from Litographs: The Litographs temporary tattoos are awesome, and I recently ordered an Alice in Wonderland temporary tattoo as part of a tattoo chain—I ordered a random line from Alice in Wonderland, and the whole book is being sold line-by-line as temporary tattoos, so you take a picture and send it to Litographs and they’ll have the whole book in photographs of people wearing the tattoos! I thought that was so cool.
  4. Kate Spade hot-air balloon purse: I saw a girl with the Kate Spade purse on the subway and fell in love. Sadly, it’s sold out. I want to keep an eye out for more quirky/fun purses like this that are a little less expensive.
  5. Alice + Olivia elephant pouch: Again, this one is also sold out but I’ve been monitoring eBay and Poshmark so hopefully someone wants to sell theirs soon!

Separates. This outfit was almost accidental. The top was previously a dress that I cut in two because the hem was far too long. I asked my mom to hem the bottom of the newly-made “crop top” and then I paired it with this old Tobi skirt I forgot I had. Happy accident. These stockings have been in my wardrobe since 2009, and I think it’s time to retire them. They used to be my favorite. IMG_1038 IMG_1046 IMG_1064 IMG_1109 IMG_1143IMG_1060

SNOW! It won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow…

When it snows I turn into a five-year-old. Sorry not sorry 🙂 Here’s a rather Christmassy outfit I put together from some new things and some old. Stood outside to take these photos and felt like a kid again, letting the snow just cover me. I suggest you try this sometime, it’s great for the soul.

The title of this post is from a new song by Lana Del Rey, my obsession. It’s from the new film Big Eyes which I am dying to see.

Fashion // I hear the birds on the summer breeze

This is an outfit from about a week ago when I went to brunch with my family. The skirt’s from Chicwish. I really love the lining on the inside and the detail on the waist but it wrinkles so easily. I tried to put a braid in my hair and make it a bit more interesting. Not sure it worked! Happy Monday!

Fashion // Love Can't Wear Out

Happy July! Here’s a bit of a romantic outfit…The quote is from Gone With the Wind, which I’ve finished tonight to a chorus of sobbing. Stay tuned for more on that tomorrow.
