Leather + lace is always a fun, edgy, girly combo. This was a pretty basic black and white outfit before I threw on this cool turban/headband piece I bought at Topshop for New Year’s Eve! Luckily, this outfit also coincided with a bad hair day, so the turban was a perfect accessory. 🙂 I like accessories that are pretty and functional, plus they also keep your ears warm!
Today I’m wearing this fabulous new cape coat over one of my favorite, very old dresses. I bought this dress at least four years ago, and because of the colors and how comfy it is, I must wear it a dozen times a year, and I love that. It’s definitely a staple dress, and one that I never get tired of.
I’ve been eager to find myself a good cape coat for ages, and I love this lightweight one. Cape coats of all kinds are definitely a mild-weather outerwear option, because obviously, your arms get no protection from the cold. But it’s such a fun piece to style for the warmer fall days because you get to play around with colors and patterns.
Also wearing the Kendall Jenner lipstick I cannot get enough of. It matched perfectly!
(As an aside: this is my 400th blog post. Crazy!)

It’s funny. I put it on this outfit and it reminded me of the cover of the book I was reading at the time, The Book Thief, so I took it outside with me to take photos. I’m trying to find ways to transition my wardrobe into autumn, and I think the darker colors and this sweater-like top do the trick. Plus the boots, but I wore these all summer long 🙂 Also, this is a rare instance of straight hair! It doesn’t happen often.

I have loved the words and I have hated them, and I hope I have made them right.
This is an outfit from about a week ago when I went to brunch with my family. The skirt’s from Chicwish. I really love the lining on the inside and the detail on the waist but it wrinkles so easily. I tried to put a braid in my hair and make it a bit more interesting. Not sure it worked! Happy Monday!

After much deliberation, I am happy to announce that my friends and I will be going to Portland, Maine in July. This was a far cry from my initial thought of going South, but after researching Maine, I’m so excited for lobster rolls, pre-Civil War museums, lighthouses, and lots of beach. I’m lucky to be going on vacation with friends with diverse tastes because if it were up to me, I’d just eat lobster, read books, and prowl museums all day, but we’re planning hikes, tours, kayaking, arcades, long days at the beach, and many, many lobster rolls. I can’t wait!
Here are some items on my road trip shopping list:
I’ve been coveting these Shoe Cult booties for a while now, and lucky for me, they’re on sale! It was fate. I am gravitating toward light colors and floaty dresses and tops, florals and stripes and nautical-themed wear! I also still want to find a good high-waisted bikini. Anyone have any suggestions? I think Modcloth is a good place to start, but they always seem to be just out of my price range, sigh.

Fun with kimonos. Why are these things called kimonos anyway, when they really don’t bear any resemblance to actual kimonos? Anyway, this floral one from Forever 21 is possibly my most-worn new item this season. I’ve found ways to incorporate it into half my outfits since January. Here’s an outfit I wore out with some friends a few weeks ago. I had fun spinning 🙂

I’m one of those girls who hates flats, and will proudly wear heels whether I’m going shopping or to a casual night at a bar. I like to clack, what can I say. But I do love the compromise of a casual spring/summer boot with a low heel, because I get the height I want without looking too dressy. I love how a summer boot can make a sundress look a little edgier.
Because of my bank account, stores like DSW and clearance sales are my best friends. Here are a couple of options to fill out my spring shoe closet, and thankfully, they’re all affordable!
Chicwish Chain Boots
I’ve actually already bought these! They feature a great pointed toe, that amazing shiny gold chain and my personal favorite, a notched heel emblazoned with gold that adds a special touch. I love details that transform something simple into something special. I can wear these in spring and in the fall/winter. Here’s where I got them.
Forever 21 Zipper Boots
I have also bought these. They’re similar to the Chicwish boots in shape and style but they’re a lot more casual. They’re day boots with a low heel and a zipper detail around the shaft, which make them perfect to pair with a sundress. I also love the color: the rich tan is versatile and perfect for spring. Find them here.
Forever 21 Woven Sandals
This is a dramatic night-out sandal. I love the modernist heel and the notch in it, but the woven part is my favorite. It’s perfect for crisp spring nights and can also be worn in the fall with tights. I’m usually not crazy about peep toes but these shoes stole my heart. Get them here.
I’m currently stocking my closet with new spring and summer clothes, and I had to stop by Chicwish for some flirty and ultra-feminine items! I love Chicwish because they excel at lace, textures, and pastels, all things I adore. Here are some of my favorite items and the things I ordered recently:
I bought the pastel skirt and those amazing notched booties for spring. Those things were built for my feet.
