Fashion // I wasn't crazy, I was divine

SNOW! It won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow…

When it snows I turn into a five-year-old. Sorry not sorry 馃檪 Here’s a rather Christmassy outfit I put together from聽some new things and some old. Stood outside to take these photos and felt like a kid again, letting the snow just cover me. I suggest you try this sometime, it’s great for the soul.

The title of this post is from a new song by Lana Del Rey, my obsession. It’s from the new film聽Big Eyes聽which I am dying to see.

This outfit is an extreme example of repurposing old clothes. Almost every single article of clothing in this outfit is two-plus years old or a hand-me-down. The boots are from ~2011, the top is from my sister (I salvaged it from her Goodwill pile), the mustard jacket is also ~2011, and the skirt must be from 2009 or so! It鈥檚 mad old. I used to wear it at least once a month in college. And the scarf is my mother鈥檚.

It鈥檚 always a challenge putting together solid outfits on a tight budget, but it鈥檚 also fun and extremely satisfying to leave your bank account alone and just rummage through your own closet.

fashion: Lily Bart

I love when literature and fashion make friends; for example, this blouse from Modcloth named after the main character in Edith Wharton’s聽The House of Mirth–the “Lily Bart Blouse.” I read The House of Mirth聽in high school, but I think I’m definitely due for a re-read. In the meantime, I’ll wear pretty things:

fashion: frozen

Yes, I was frozen when I took these photos outside! But it’s okay, because I love the cold. I wore this snow-inspired outfit to a Christmas party this week!

This old skirt from H&M was far too long; I bought it a couple years ago but only wore it once or twice, but I decided to hem it so I could wear it this season. My sister cut the skirt because I can’t be trusted with scissors.

This skirt makes me wish I could be a ballerina, if only I had the smallest amount of dance talent!

IMG_2518Blush pink and burgundy is my absolute favorite color combination; I must wear some form of it every other day!
