For the love of boots…

It’s THAT time of year again…boots season!! Okay, so I don’t think this is unusual for we fashion blogger types, but I am wholeheartedly obsessed with boots/booties and I usually go absolutely insane this time of year researching boots, pricing boots, evaluating my collection of boots, trying to make myself stay frugal by not buying boots, and just generally spending 65% of my time (about) thinking about boots.

Cause I like boots.

This year, my boot needs are slim because my boot buying in past years has been wise. That’s a good thing—because I don’t have much to buy, and a bad thing—because I want to buy boots.

So in an effort to remain organized and sort of stop myself from going too crazy, I’ve made a collage of the kinds of boots I tend to gravitate toward and I’ve thought of what I want to wear them with.Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 4.10.39 PM

I’ve found booties that will work well predominantly with skirts and dresses, since that’s most of what I wear in fall. I’m not a jeans girl, and I think these will also work well with those sleek stretchy pants I wear so much. You’ll also find some flats choices, because my flats collection is sorely lacking.

Shoe Lust: The Privileged Dazed Bootie

Help me decide! I found these shoes on the DSW website and completely fell in love:

 dazed-bootie

I adored the straps and the pointed toe, and especially that clear lucite heel. But then I saw that they come in another color:

And because of my unhealthy addiction to floral (even abstract floral) I had a moment of indecision and I don’t know which one I love better. These babies are on sale so I have to snap them up quick!

Black or multi? This is an important decision.

Fashion: To The Dark Places

Happy April! April and May are my favorite months of the year. I love when it starts to rain every day and you can smell the sweetness of the rain in the air. It’s so refreshing and warm. It’s also when I start to pull out the Frizz-Ease to tame my mane of hair! You win some, you lose some.

This outfit combines two of my favorite spring trends: floral and thigh-high socks. I had a lot of fun styling these pieces and it was the perfect spring day, when the air just starts to warm up and rise in humidity. It even started to drizzle. I loved it.

My Christmas Lit & Fashion Haul

As you can probably expect, I got plenty of clothes, shoes, jewelry, and books for Christmas. Not too shabby:

I love the print on this skater skirt, and the slight steampunk vibe of the statement necklace.

Gilmore Girls on DVD, and some great books I’ve been salivating for: The Lowland, The Valkyries, The Alchemist, Neverwhere, Bellman & Black, and The Moonstone. January will be a month filled with great reads, so stay tuned!

Blush pink is one of my favorite colors, and I love the bat sleeves on this blouse. You might recognize these shoes from a post I did a while back–they’re actually solid tan boots covered in fabric! They were really fun to make.

DIY: I put flowers on my feet

Over the weekend I sat down and devoted some hours to doing these DIY tapestry boots. I had the day to myself and the whole first season of The OC to watch (it was a great day). I had recently ordered a pair of boots and some tapestry fabric cheaply in order to recreate a pair of Jeffrey Campbells that aren’t available anymore. As an added bonus, with all the supplies, these boots only cost me about $50. It was my birthday present to me 🙂 Take a look at my DIY tapestry boots!

Tapestry Boots

I can’t get enough of floral print. It’s the unashamed girly-girl in me who positively squeals over a good floral print on virtually anything, but mostly on shoes. A while ago I saw these on the Internet:

RUMBLE FAB

by Jeffrey Campbell at Solestruck.

but they were sold out. Now I would revisit these beauties from time to time and sigh in exasperation and feel the pangs of unfulfilled love and know that there was a shoe-shaped hole in my heart (actually, two holes) that would never be filled. But then I remembered: I like DIY, and I never let anything go.

So I decided to make them myself, yet again. (This is the fourth time I’ve done this.)

The charm of these boots is the shape of the heel and the height of the shaft. I scurried around the Internet for a while and found these on 6PM.com. I got the $79 shoes in Cognac for a measly $29 due to a serendipitous sale and an additional 10% off coupon.

For the fabric, I found a floral tapestry with a black backdrop that I may like even better than the blue/cream combination pictured above, because the dark color will work well in winter paired with dark tights. The original pair is more of a spring boot, but it’s winter now and my feet are cold (and thoroughly un-floral).

I can’t wait to put them together. Pictures of the process to come.

And yes, I am obsessed. Let’s move on.
