A poem about early spring, by Rainer Maria Rilke

Happy Monday! Or is it happy? 馃槈 Today I wanted to share a poem by one of my favorite authors/poets, Rainer Maria Rilke, a German poet who was famous at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. He wrote one of my favorite poems, The Duino Elegies. Here’s a simple one he wrote about spring!

New look // How to wear blue and black together

Happy Friday! Today I have a fun work look to share, built around these beautiful blue floral tights I received as a present from my cousins this Christmas. They鈥檙e gorgeous鈥擨 especially love the open weave of the leaf detail! These are definitely a statement piece, so I thought I鈥檇 take the opportunity to style a look with a color palette that gets a bad rep: blue and black.

New Look // Mixing patterns with a romantic dress

One of the reasons why I love winter fashion so much is the opportunity for layering, mixing patterns and textures, and creating energetic color combinations. You’ve got so much to work with in winter: stockings, dresses, layering shirts under or cardigans over a dress, scarves, etc. I love putting all the puzzle pieces together to create something fresh and new. In summer, my choices are more limited!

Derma E Charcoal Beauty Products: A New Year Detox for my skin!

Hey all! Today I have a beauty review for you, about a company I am thrilled to work with. A lot of you may know I’ve always struggled with acne and breakouts, and have tried dozens of beauty products in my quest for clear skin. Eventually, I did settle on a combination of OTC and dermatologist-prescribed products, and was hesitant to add anything else in that may upset that happy equilibrium. However, I recently was asked to give Derma E products a try, and I was SO SURPRISED by how much I loved them!

Snapshots // a 1920s birthday party

It’s been an awesome winter already. I tend to burrow into my own warm, cozy hole this time of year, but this year, with a new job and a lot of weekend events, I’ve possibly been enjoying聽not聽being lazy even more!

I thought I’d share some snapshots today of my sister’s 30th birthday party, which was a Roaring Twenties theme! This is a pretty common theme, but it was still so much fun to put together the decorations, find dresses and jewelry, mix gin cocktails, and find some jazz music for our guests. We also set up a photobooth with props! Take a look at some snapshots below and let me know what you think!

Book rec // ‘The Glorious Heresies,’ by Lisa McInerney

Hello all! Today’s book review is called The Glorious Heresies by Irish author Lisa McInerney. Did you ever start a book with apprehension based on the description, and wonder if you’ll really like it? Or even be able to stomach it? That’s how I felt when starting this book鈥攂ased on the description, I thought it would be too dark, too icky, too complicated for me. But what I ended up with was a book with unbelievably interesting and complicated characters, surprising plot twists, and themes of redemption, the nature of religion, and the choices we make that alter the courses of our lives.

锘緼 Valentine’s Day outfit // Red dress + polka dot tights

Happy February! As always, time is going by super fast. In the spirit of the season, I thought I’d share a perfect Valentine’s Day look here today. I happen to always like Valentine’s Day despite the fact that I was almost always single during it. I think it’s due to my mother: when we were kids she always bought us candy and cards for Valentine’s Day and that always made me think of it as a day to celebrate love in all its forms, and to reject spending a lot in favor of small acts of love.
