Fall means a whole new outlook on life: it means chilly nights by the fire, warm apple cider, and leaves turning every jewel-bright color. I’m celebrating the beginning of fall by thinking of all the things I want to do: apple picking, baking cookies, staying home on cool nights with a big book, drinking fall beers, and going to family events. It’s also so much fun to change up your wardrobe according to the season. I always use a lot of color in my outfits, and I tend to go through stages according to the season (and sometimes I like to break the rules).
September has been, and will be, a very busy month for me. I have two engagement parties, two weddings, two big milestone birthday parties, a weekend getaway, and celebrating my parents’ anniversary. They’re all wonderful things, but hopefully October quiets down more and I can savor the beginning of fall—with very many books, cuddled up in bed. 🙂
I may be late to the velvet game, but I feel like early fall is the perfect time to rock one of these gorgeous velvet crop tops. They’re warm and echo autumn’s deep colors, but they’re definitely perfect for warmer fall days, too! I’m not a huge fan of the velvet boots thing, but I am absolutely on board with the tops!
During spring and summer, there’s nothing more effortless than a maxi dress—it’s instant elegance and it’s so easy to style. But it’s also a great transition piece of clothing, for those days in late summer when the mornings and evenings turn colder and a shorter dress seems out of place, or uncomfortable. Here’s a gorgeous maxi dress I styled with transitioning and fall in mind!
Every once in a while I get bored of just throwing on a dress and leaving the house, especially since my instinct is to be a bit lazy. I like to mix up my outfits, styling them in unexpected ways that infuses my closet with a little more excitement. I own dozens of dresses, and even though they’re my favorite things to wear, by nature they’re pretty simple. An easy way to style a dress in a more interesting way is to layer–even in summer!
Here, I layered an embellished-sleeve white tee over a pinafore-style dress. The dress, with spaghetti straps and an unusual neckline, would have been ever-so-slightly inappropriate for work, so I decided to mix it up by throwing it on over a tee. I love the way the white of the shirt mirrors the white of the dress’s design.

Is it just me or are pineapples everywhere these days? I really like them personally, I think they’re cute and summery and make for an excellent clothing print. Pineapples are also the international symbol of friendship, which is appropriate for this post, considering I bought this skirt after my friend wore it!
This year I’ll be very, very sad when summer ends. Usually I love the change of seasons but this summer has been so fun, and so good to me. I’ve been able to visit new cities, spend time with friends and family, hit new heights in my career, and spend a lot of time outdoors. Plus. I’ll miss being able to dress in flowy skirts, crop tops, and bright colors. 🙂
I’m a big believer in frugal shopping: saving for a home and being on a budget means I have to search to find deals, but since I’m also a dedicated fashion lover, the search is worth it. This is an outfit I bought from Marshalls, an excellent source for great looking clothes for a lot less. This outfit is totally me: flowers, flow, and a healthy dose of pink! I feel like a million bucks when I wear it, but I spent like $30. 😀 Hope you like it!Read More »
It feels like summer just came and now it’s more than halfway over. This July was definitely chock full of fun, what with my recent trip to San Diego, my weeklong vacation in the Catskills, and spending time at the beach on weekends. During summer, all I want to do is throw on simple dresses and head out the door, and this is one of those simple outfits that look super cute and stylish!
Who doesn’t love a good sale? During my trip to San Diego I happened upon an Aeropostale store having a major end-of-summer sale (in July). I hadn’t been inside Aeropostale for years, since it’s one of those stores I tend to think of as stocking mid-2000s logo tees, but in fact, they had racks and racks of cute dresses and rompers, most at half off.
This dress is one of those purchases: a soft, flowy dress with a classic pattern and print, that’s super versatile. I styled it up here with red pumps but this is a dress you can easily style down with sandals for a super casual look, or try it with a statement necklace for date night! One of the reasons why dresses are so popular is because they’re so easy (and fun) to style in endless ways.Read More »
Embroidery was a HUGE trend this year and last, and it’s a trend I happen to love, and will probably continue to wear for years to come. I’m an enthusiastic floral print fan, and this year I even DIY’d my own pair of embroidered jeans!
I bought this gorgeous embroidered blouse and wanted to find a funky way to style it that wasn’t simply wearing it over black pants (which is also a great look, btw). I decided to for a bit of a pinup look with denim shorts and strappy black heels! Hope you like this look.Read More »
