DIY // Embroidered Jeans

Hey all! Today’s post is one I’m really excited about. Since the fall, I’ve been very into the embroidery trend—it’s so my style. I love anything floral, embellished, or feminine, so clearly I loved embroidery! I bought myself an embroidery bomber jacket but it was the jeans I really wanted.

Unfortunately, as has happened so many times before, the styles I liked were out of my price range. I TRY to be frugal, even if I fail sometimes, so my only recourse was to make them myself. So I did! And it was a lot easier than I expected. Here’s how I did it.

Easy DIY Halloween costume!

Happy Halloween everyone! It’s officially Halloween even though everyone probably celebrated this past Saturday (I know I did)! I wanted to share my super quick, easy DIY Halloween costume this year. I decided to dress as a creepy vintage wind-up doll! Here’s a selfie:

I settled on this costume for a few reasons: First, it would cost me no money. Second, the DIY portion of the costume was truly a no brainer. Third, it was fun to do the makeup! So if you love makeup and spending hardly a dollar, here’s how to do this DIY wind-up doll costume!

How to: DIY Ripped Jeans

A few weeks ago, I found myself interested in buying a cool, edgy pair of black, ripped jeans, but frowned at the ridiculous prices I was seeing online. In true form, I decided to DIY ripped jeans at home, and save a ton of money. I prefer black jeans to blue jeans because they’re edgier and more my style, so the first thing I did was scout out a cheap pair of black jeans I could utterly destroy.

At Forever 21, I found a perfect pair of jeans for $20, and so I set to work. Here’s how you can DIY ripped jeans at home, and hopefully save a buck or two! (Jeans are way too expensive 🙂 ).

DIY // Lana Del Rey floral headphones

If you’ve been reading this blog for any period of time, you’ll know my love for Lana Del Rey. One day, I decided I really wanted these Lana Del Rey headphones, the ones she wears in the amazing music video for “Music To Watch Boys To,” and since I couldn’t find these Lana Del Rey headphones online, my ol’ reliable is to figure out how to make them. And find out I did.

First, I tried to find decent headphones with a structure that would allow a bit of hotgluing, and secondly, I went on a Google search for the right flowers. Once I had all of my supplies, it was time to get to work!

New DIY project: Lana Del Rey or Princess Leia headphones?

Okay, so I’m getting that creative itch to make something, and I’ve been inspired by two people: Lana Del Rey and Princess Leia (or, if you know what I’m talking about, Princess Vespa from Spaceballs). I’ve always wanted fun/quirky/weird headphones, and since I can’t buy what I have in mind, I’m going to do what I always fall back on: good ol’ do it yourself.

In case you don’t follow either Lana Del Rey or Star Wars lore, here are the two pairs of headphones I covet. The first is from the “Music To Watch Boys To” video by Lana Del Rey, and the other was inspired partly by Princess Leia, and partly by the 1987 Star Wars parody movie Spaceballs (in which Princess Vespa has headphones that look like Leia’s signature hairstyle—so funny):

Fashion | Summer Wine

This is probably one of the last actual summer outfits I’ll do this year. August is almost over. 🙁

Instead of shopping at the end of the season I tried to do some restyling with old pieces. These shorts are from Forever 21 but they never fit me before this year, and the top was cut from a dress that didn’t fit! This outfit happened because I pulled random things out of my closet and found that they worked — surprisingly.

DIY // Maid of Honor’s Shoes

DIY jeweled heels today! This will be the last shoe DIY for a while, since I’m still picking dried glue off my fingers. For my sister’s wedding (which was December 5th and beautiful!), as you know, I bedazzled my own shoes, my sister the bride’s shoes, and last, my sister the maid of honor’s shoes.

DIY // Wedding Shoes

Here’s Part 2 of my sister’s wedding shoe series. Previously I did my own bridesmaid’s shoes, and now here’s my sister’s bridal shoes! She’s having a winter theme and her colors are navy blue and taupe, so I bought her these blue suede shoes (!) from Nine West and then we went together to craft stores to get some supplies. We lucked out with this beautiful pendant for the backs of the shoes, and then some individual rhinestones and crystals to mimic the look of ice freezing and melting off the shoe. It’s a heel worthy of Elsa’s wedding.

DIY Preview // Bridesmaid Shoes

My sister is getting married in two weeks, and today, I’m doing a DIY project with my bridesmaid’s shoes, because of course I am.

She’s having a winterish wedding, with navy blue and taupe as her colors, and I offered to jewel her wedding shoes for her to make it look like ice crystals dripping from the front of the shoe and the back, and when I told her I’d do her shoes, I also really wanted to do my own.

We’re wearing nude heels, so I bought these dainty Barbie-like heels at DSW for $40 and then had an idea while rummaging through craft stores for jewels: feathers. I saw a bag of spotted feathers that matched both the taupe color of the dress and the nude color of the heels, so I bought a couple bags of those, plus some beautiful big rhinestones and a nude-pearl appliqué. Here are my materials:

I’ll let you guys see the finished product when I’m done! I’m also jeweling the bride’s shoes and I’ll definitely post pictures of that process as well. Can’t wait to see my sister walk down that aisle.
