Allow me to introduce you to my first pair of heeled over-the-knee boots! I’ve worn this classic trend in more subtle ways in the past and when I saw these babies for half off at Nasty Gal, I knew they were destined for my closet. They’re velvet and gorgeous! Lately I’ve been pushing myself to wear things I don’t normally wear, and these thigh-high heeled boots definitely fall under that category. Why wear the same ol’ things all the time?
I paired these show-stopping boots with a romantic dress in a classic fall hue: marigold. I really like the romantic on top, sexy on the bottom sort of effect here, especially with my Berkshire striped tights peeking through. I finished this look with a cape coat so I wouldn’t cover up those pretty lace sleeves, a move I immediately regretted in the ~40 degree weather here in New York. Oh well—the things I do for a good look.
One of my all-time favorite places in the world is the New York Public Library. It feels like a whole shrine to knowledge, stories, and history, and it’s a constant reminder of the power of words. Every week I walk down Library Way on my way to work, where there are tiles set into the sidewalk containing famous literary quotes. Walking down that street is always lovely, no matter how many times I do it.
It’s been a great fall so far; the leaves are being hella pretty and I’m enjoying the cold weather! Check back for more style inspo every Friday.
