Oh boy, if life has been stressful and getting you down lately, like it has for me, then odds are you need a pamper night. You need to de-stress, regroup, and do something nice for yourself. I’m always a little bit hard on myself, eager to get my to-do list finished completely by the end of the week and giving myself no excuses when I miss something. It can be a lot to handle, and it can pile up in small ways you don’t notice until you crack. Here are three simple ways to take care of yourself this week.
1. Take the morning off work to do nothing.
If you have extra personal/sick/vacation days to spare, use them. But if the thought of being left with none to bank or none to use when you actually need them makes you nervous, then simply take a halfday. Instead of waking up at 6 and getting into work at 9, wake up at 9 and aim to get into work at noon or 1. It’ll feel SO GOOD sleeping late and not setting an alarm, and it can also act as a psychological reset button. Plus, since you’re not taking the entire day off, you won’t feel guilty missing work and dumping extra stuff onto your co-workers. Everyone needs a little time off sometimes.
2. Treat yourself to a small present.
Retail therapy is definitely a thing, but just because it may make you feel better doesn’t mean you have to throw your budget out the window every time you need a pick-me-up. That’s what wine is for. Instead, treat yourself to something small, beautiful, and even useful. My suggestion is giving something like Underclub a try.
Underclub is a subscription service that sends you high-quality intimates every month, based on your lifestyle and preferences. I was gifted a free month of Underclub and it was such a nice feeling opening up this package and getting goodies inside. It’ll make you feel a little more confident and sexy, and it’s such a small way to lift your spirits. Heads up, they also make good brides’ and bridesmaids’ gifts (I gave a month to my engaged friend)! And they even threw in a bag of jelly beans—it doesn’t get much better than that. Right now, Underclub is soft launching a new $12.95 subscription line and you can get exclusive access when you subscribe this month.
3. Remove three non-essential things from your to-do list and watch extra TV instead.
If there’s one thing I always stress over, it’s getting everything on my list done. The preoccupation I feel with checking everything off can become all-consuming, to the point where I don’t enjoy my relaxation time. So, this week, take out three things that can definitely wait until next week. Instead of doing all your laundry, wash your undies and leave the rest for another few days. Wait until next week to fix the heel in your boot. Don’t worry about the things that can be done later on, hunker down with a bowl of popcorn, and watch extra TV.
