During spring and summer, there’s nothing more effortless than a maxi dress—it’s instant elegance and it’s so easy to style. But it’s also a great transition piece of clothing, for those days in late summer when the mornings and evenings turn colder and a shorter dress seems out of place, or uncomfortable. Here’s a gorgeous maxi dress I styled with transitioning and fall in mind!
I scored this dress from Marshalls for $20-ish! As such, it isn’t available online, but I’ve linked some similar ones (like this one from Nordstrom Rack, this one from Rue La La, or this one from Macy’s, all affordable, below! I had a lot of fun styling this one, because the colors on this dress are really beautiful. They echo the deep jewel tones of fall, while being cool enough for warmer days.
I decided to go with a gold, double-buckle belt (silver available here for those who prefer that!) because it brings a touch of edge to the whole look! I echoed the deep jewel tones of the dress elsewhere with gold-tone jewelry. Hope you like this look!
For cooler days, a cropped leather jacket or mustard-colored cardigan would be perfect! Even though it’s a bummer that summer is over, every time I pull on a cardigan I remember how lovely and cozy colder weather can be…what’s your favorite thing about transitioning from summer to fall? Let me know in the comments!
