Beauty Review // Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish

Hi all! Today I’m back detailing my never-ending quest for a miracle skincare product. Today I’m reviewing the Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish, a $72 product that combines physical, chemical, and enzyme exfoliators to really scrub at your skin. In case you need a refresher, I’ve been through dozens of skincare products in my day, from using a Clarisonic, to exfoliating with nutmeg, to using a baking soda/honey wash, to visiting a dermatologist. I’ve tried it all. Here’s my current skincare routine and a basic rundown of my skin type:

Skin Type: Combination skin with dry spots and oily spots, especially in my T-zone; tendency to get blackheads; a touch of roseacea; hormonal breakouts

Morning: Wash with Cera-Ve Hydrating Face Wash, use dermatologist-prescribed rosacea cream, moisturize with St. Ives collagen moisturizer

Night: Remove makeup with Pond’s cold cream and a makeup remover wipe, exfoliate with Derma E Activated Charcoal Exfoliating Wash, apply moisturizer again (sometimes before moisturizer I’ll swipe on a tiny amount of tea tree oil, if I’ve broken out)

It’s a fair amount of work. With a clay mask once a week, and some random hyper-exfoliating with nutmeg (such a neat little trick!), my skin stays relatively clear and redness-free. Into this mix I added the Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish.

About the Product:
  • It’s an anti-aging “breakthrough” that renews skin three ways: with a mix of chemical, physical, and enzyme “rejuvenators”
  • It’s an intensive exfoliating treatment that delivers “instant skin resurfacing”
  • Contains professional-grade crystals, papaya enzyme, and glycolic acid to dissolve impurities, smooth skin, get rid of dead skin cells and dry patches, and restore softness and glow
  • Should be used 1-2 times a week

My Experience:

I decided to use this product once a week to start, since I have sensitive skin and I was already using an exfoliator every day. The product feels gritty to the touch, and is a dull orange color. It feels a bit like play-doh and sand mixed together. You’re supposed to rub the product in, but not scrub, so you don’t cause microtears in your skin from the exfoliant. Depending on how sensitive your skin is, you’re supposed to leave it on for 1-2 minutes after rubbing.

Using this product once a week, I noticed a smoothness right after use, but it wasn’t as obvious as when I use other products, like my daily exfoliator or even my trusty nutmeg (it’s oily and gritty, so it softens skin!). I only left it on for a minute and used it once a week, and then when I didn’t notice any adverse reactions, used it twice a week and left it on for two minutes. I like it, but it’s not a miracle product. It’s not worth the $72, in my opinion, and I won’t spend money on it.

When I went on vacation, I did take it with me, because the change of water when I travel always tends to produce breakouts. I used it the first night I was away, and let my sister use it as well. Neither of us broke out the way we always do when we travel, and she even told me she thinks it was the Exuviance that prevented her breakouts. It wasn’t a true experiment, but she seemed to like the product!

In conclusion, I’d give this product 3.5/5. I wasn’t blown away by it, and it didn’t seem as effective as either of the other two exfoliating products I usually use. It’s also pricey, so if you’re on a budget, this isn’t the product for you. I will definitely continue using it, especially during a Memorial Day weekend trip, a yearly vacation during which I always tend to break out. Maybe the Exuviance can help prevent that! If you’re interested, you can buy it at the Exuviance website.
