Happy Friday! Today I have a fun work look to share, built around these beautiful blue floral tights I received as a present from my cousins this Christmas. They’re gorgeous—I especially love the open weave of the leaf detail! These are definitely a statement piece, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to style a look with a color palette that gets a bad rep: blue and black.
It’s one of those fashion rules that has stuck, like mixing black and brown (I do this too) or mixing clashing colors (like purple and orange, another favorite combo of mine). I know it takes a little extra styling to make it look good, but that’s what makes fashion so fun! So here’s my take on mixing blue and black for a work-appropriate look that’ll draw compliments. I definitely did!
The tights are definitely the focal piece here, so I wore a black dress with a longline navy blue vest over, and I tried to match the navy hues very closely. The tights are stylized, so no other patterns in the rest of the outfit, and texturally it’s also very simple. Just a little teal and gold necklace, and black shoes with gold detail to echo it! I wore this on a warm winter day at the office, and felt very cool. 🙂
What “fashion rules” do you break a lot? Do you ever wear blue and black and struggle with the styling? Let me know!
