Here at The Most Happy, I’m constantly trying new shampoos and conditioners to achieve that effortless, I-never-want-to-actually-do-my-hair kind of look. I’m the laziest when it comes to styling, only bothering to curl my hair on special occasions, so I love finding washes that do all the work for me, keeping my hair healthy, moisturized, and volumized. That’s why I was excited to give the Hask Chia Seed Oil Volumizing shampoo & conditioner a try.
I’ve used Hask before; I tried and have consistently used their Superfruit Moisturizing set and loved it. This line, containing chia seed oil, “hair-volumizing proteins,” antioxidants, and omega-3s (for shine boosting) is meant to instantly volumize your hair without weighing it down, moisturize, and reduce frizz. I used this set for about three weeks. Here’s what I thought.
First off, I noticed the formula is pretty heavy, not light and airy like the previous Hask line was. It took a bit to lather up, which again was a contrast to the other line I used from this company. After using this shampoo for a few weeks, I didn’t notice a perceptible difference in the volume, shine, and health of my hair. I did not notice any reduction in frizz or any boost in shine. However, it didn’t weigh my hair down or make it less wavy, so I’ll probably continue to use the bottle up in addition to some of my other shampoos, since I usually wash my hair with two different shampoos every time! I’m a weirdo like that.
As for the conditioner, I really liked the formula and the consistency, and will only comment that again, I didn’t notice any difference in volume, etc. I did notice it was ultra-moisturizing, though! My hair felt like silk after I rinsed it out.
I really like Hask products and their formulas, especially since they’re made without sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol, or artificial colors. This one didn’t live up to its lofty goals, but it’s still a very good choice for shampoo and conditioner you can feel good about.
