A less than summery look today, but I’ve been wanting to wear this midi skirt for ages, and decided that it would be perfect for a fancy day at work! I don’t always dress up at work, but a good skirt or a new dress can really improve my mood. Gotta love that.
I bought this midi skirt nearly two years ago, from Choies, one of those sites that may or may not be trying to rip you off. Anyway, I could never wear it because it was too big, but when I was riffling through my closet looking for inspiration, I decided to try it on. Lo and behold, two years of gaining weight paid off, cause now I get to wear this amazing midi skirt!
I love this skirt and this whole outfit because the lines and silhouettes are definitely a nod to the 50s, and make me feel really girly and feminine. I also love the wacky print of this skirt! I never really knew how to style a midi, but I’m glad I gave it a go. It’s one of my favorite shapes now.
Tips for wearing a midi skirt:
Here’s what I’ve learned. First, pick shoes that will elongate your legs instead of cut them off. Maybe a nude, classic heel or like I styled here, a shoe that won’t cut your leg off at the ankle. Then, choose a tight-fitted or tailored top to provide contrast with the wide shape of the skirt. I accessorized lightly, just by pulling in red as accents to echo the pattern of the skirt.
